Welcome

FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Thank you for visiting our website. I will thank you even more if you visit our club, especially as we are entering an exciting new phase in moving to a new venue: Strutts Community Centre in Belper.

Over 40 years, Derby City Photographic has also built up a reputation as a friendly club where prospective members are given a warm welcome. They also come into a healthy fold of eager-to-learn beginners right through to experienced practitioners who both inspire and help others.

We also have an enviable reputation for the quality of our lectures, and encourage the spirit of competition through monthly themed contests in both digital and print.

We have a flourishing photo library, too – over 100 books.

Derby City PC is also one of the 40-plus members of the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF) which is itself affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).

ANDY PHILLIPS presents MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

How many times have you taken a photograph and then, at the same place, someone else takes a photograph and sees something completely different? As pro photographer Andy will show us, there is ‘more than meets the eye’ with any image. He will demonstrate how he creates his photographs and strives to look outside the box. ‘Take a mental step sideways and dare to be different’, says Andy.

‘I am not interested in shooting new things – I am interested to see things new.’ - Ernst Haas.
