Welcome

FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Thank you for visiting our website. I will thank you even more if you visit our club, especially as we are entering an exciting new phase in moving to a new venue: Strutts Community Centre in Belper.

Over 40 years, Derby City Photographic has also built up a reputation as a friendly club where prospective members are given a warm welcome. They also come into a healthy fold of eager-to-learn beginners right through to experienced practitioners who both inspire and help others.

We also have an enviable reputation for the quality of our lectures, and encourage the spirit of competition through monthly themed contests in both digital and print.

We have a flourishing photo library, too – over 100 books.

Derby City PC is also one of the 40-plus members of the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF) which is itself affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).

PHILIP JOYCE FRPS presents THE STORY SO FAR

One of the unsung greats of social documentary photography, Philip has an eye for the quirky, fascinating, funny and poignant that recalls the heralded work of Martin Parr. He will take us on a tour of Britain, where he has captured the Porthcawl Elvis Festival, gypsy horse fairs, a Tattoo convention, Oxford University graduation ceremonies and Crufts Dog Show.

‘A fantastic evening where we mere camera club mortals just watch in awe at such an impressive body of work.’ - Oxford Photography Society
