Welcome

FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Thank you for visiting our website. I will thank you even more if you visit our club, especially as we are entering an exciting new phase in moving to a new venue: Strutts Community Centre in Belper.

Over 40 years, Derby City Photographic has also built up a reputation as a friendly club where prospective members are given a warm welcome. They also come into a healthy fold of eager-to-learn beginners right through to experienced practitioners who both inspire and help others.

We also have an enviable reputation for the quality of our lectures, and encourage the spirit of competition through monthly themed contests in both digital and print.

We have a flourishing photo library, too – over 100 books.

Derby City PC is also one of the 40-plus members of the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF) which is itself affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).

Keith is one of the most awarded Audio-Visual photographers in the country, and we’ll be seeing a few of those award-winning AVs as well as one or two from a few years back which have stood the test of time. In the main, though, Keith will showcase his best work over the past five years, including some AVs he has made in memory of his late wife Kate, using her extensive legacy of photographs.

COMPETITION 1
ARCHITECTURE (PDI)

Judge: Phil Newman ARPS AFIAP BPE5

Definition: Architectural photography is all about capturing buildings and other structures, generally in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing and accurate to their forms. It’s not just about photographing high-profile buildings; it’s about structures of all kinds - towering skyscrapers, soaring cathedrals, suburban houses, and even solitary garden sheds. We also welcome exteriors or interiors.
